Clam Digging

Who doesn’t love fresh homemade clam chowder? A Humboldt Bay clam digging trip is a great way to bring the whole family together and get muddy.

We guide clamming trips in Humboldt Bay – home to several species of clams and where the bag limit is generous. We primarily dig for gaper, butter (Martha Washington), and Pacific littleneck clams. Pacific geoducks can be found occasionally.

Clam digging trips can be done solely from shore, or kayaks can be used to reach clam beds on islands throughout Humboldt Bay.

Clam beds can only be accessed for a short period during negative tides. Once the clam beds are inundated you can spend the rest of the day relaxing or go crabbing or fishing for rockfish, lingcod, CA halibut, perch, and/or leopard shark.

Clam Season: Year-long
